Kalei (pronounced “kay-lee”) is a new apple variety developed by the Queensland Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and released in February 2013. The word is Hawaiian for “lovable”. It is already available in Australia, and trials are taking place in Europe and the USA.
